FaHRAS is delighted to have been recognised as part of the East Midlands Mastalgia Pathway Implementation Team who received a High Commendation as part of the 2022 Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards for Primary and Community Care Innovation of the Year. 

Cancer survival rates in England are at an all-time high with over 7000 more people surviving cancer than three years ago. However, urgent GP referrals to specialists have increased by over 500,000 since 2014, to in excess of over 1.7 million people. By 2035, it is projected that at least 500,000 people will be diagnosed with cancer in the UK each year, an increase of 40% compared to current levels.

Following a ‘call to action’ to identify solutions to one of the East Midlands’ biggest healthcare challenges, three transformational projects are to receive a total of £300,000 funding which will assist with putting these innovations into practice.
