FaHRAS – Online
FaHRAS Online is a decision support tool that provides risk assessment for people who present with concerns about their risk of developing breast cancer. It provides risk assessment based on the NICE guidelines, CanRisk, and the ICR screening protocol.
The securely hosted software application allows clinicians to perform a risk assessment to determine an individual’s objective risk of breast cancer and provide care in the most appropriate setting. This has a positive impact on the individual’s immediate care with complimentary affects throughout the pathway, including increased identification of those at risk, reassurance where there is patient anxiety and reduced risk of litigation for provider organisations.
Information on family history is gathered digitally from the patient, or using a validated questionnaire, that can then be inputted in to the system by a the user and stored in a database. Outputs, including patient letters, are generated for the clinican and the service user, detailing their risk and the advised clinical action.
By digitising the methods by which the increasing numbers of patients are processed current standards in screening practices and patient care can be maintained, and even improved upon, as well as easing the increasing demands on resources.
